What is the Founders Day Challenge and why should I support it?
Founders Day of Giving is a 24 hour event to support Delta Zeta. 24 hours of Delta Zetas and friends supporting educational opportunities, scholarships and programming which benefits our members. This is an international effort to inspire current members, alumnae, parents and friends of Delta Zeta to make a gift of any size to the Foundation.
It is also an opportunity to encourage your Delta Zeta sisters to get involved - invite them to follow along with #TrulyGiving and #EmpowerTheWoman, encourage them to sign up to be an Ambassador, and of course - support us on that day!
How can I help connect other Delta Zetas to the Founders Day Challenge?
We need your help to reach thousands of sisters, friends and family members who truly love Delta Zeta. Signing up to be an Ambassador and encouraging others to give graciously on October 22 is one of the best ways to help!
Your excitement and energy leading up to and on October 22 will help us begin the celebration of the legacy our Founders created for us. Ambassadors will be provided training and engagement leading up to the big day - we just need you to sign up and we will take care of the rest!
I want to create a Match or Challenge Gift for the Founders Day Challenge - what do I do?
Please contact Alicia Favata, Chief Advancement Officer: firstname.lastname@example.org. Match and Challenge Gifts are vital to the success of the Founders Day Challenge and we are excited to discuss your idea further.
Do I need to support any of the matching gifts or challenges to make my gift count?
No! Matching and challenge gifts will happen throughout the day to add some fun "competition" for certain criteria. If you match the criteria for a certain challenge, you are more than welcome to designate your gift to that match or challenge. If not, your gift will support Founders Day Challenge!
Can I make an automatic, recurring gift?
Yes! Your first gift will be processed on October 22 and will support our Founders Day Challenge efforts. After that, your gift will continue to be processed on the date you select.
I am already supporting the Delta Zeta Foundation through a recurring gift, pledge or plan to give my gift at a different time. Will those gifts support Founders Day Challenge?
Unfortunately, no. Only gifts made on October 22 will count towards Founders Day Challenge… we encourage you to make an additional gift joining many other Delta Zeta sisters and friends by supporting our organization on October 22!
Will I receive a receipt?
Yes! You will receive an email confirmation receipt almost immediately after giving online on October 22. You will also receive a mailed thank you letter and receipt following #TrulyGiving.
What areas can I support when making a gift today?
All gifts during Founders Day Challenge will go to support the future of Delta Zeta: scholarships, leadership development and educational programs to advance the Delta Zeta experience for all of our members.
Is my gift tax deductible?
Yes! The Delta Zeta Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization and all gifts made on October 22 are tax-deductible. Please retain your email receipt for tax purposes. Please retain your email receipt for tax purposes.
In fact, as part of the CARES Act passed by Congress this spring, there is a NEW deduction for charitable donors who do not itemize when filing their tax returns. If you do not itemize but make a gift to charity, including the Delta Zeta Foundation, you will be allowed to take a special tax deduction for 2020, up to $300, to reduce your tax liability. As part of the legislation, there is also an increase in the deduction limit for those who do itemize, allowing up to 100% of a donor’s annual income for cash gifts (previously the deduction was capped at 60% of annual income). If you make a gift, you will be able to deduct more this year.
